Love
Text: I
Corinthians 13
Quote: “If I speak in tongues of men
and of angels, but have not love…”
In verses
1-2, Here it makes us understand that if you possess all the heavenly gifts (
speaking in tongues, prophesying, intercession and other kinds of gifts
) but have not love (charity), we are nothing, absolutely nothing. That means complete zero.
) but have not love (charity), we are nothing, absolutely nothing. That means complete zero.
Are you a
man of God or someone with the gift of the spirit and all you do is mock,
crucify or say evil things about someone in sin? Then the book of Galatians 6:1
is talking directly to you backed up by the book of I Corinthians 13.
I quickly
move on to verses 3-6. Are you filled with the spirit of pride and believe that
taunting others with what you have is the best? Do you boast or envy and all
you do is self-seeking? Do you behave rude to people because of an event or
because of the fact that you have assisted a fellow before and you see it as an
opportunity to talk to them anyhow? Do you get angered easily? Do you still
keep records of someone’s wrongs? Do you always take delight in evil
happenings?
All this are
but vanity upon vanity that leads to hell. It says that God is love according
to I John 4:8 “the one who does not love has not known God. For Go is love”.
Now knowing
that God is love, these are the things that love will do
1)
It
does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth
2)
It
always protects
3)
It
always trust
4)
It
always hope
5)
It
always hope
6)
It
never fails
Let me
finish with the last verse of I Corinthians 13, it says “And now these are
three remains: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of all in love”
